[Anaido enters the room - and instantly, when he sees a certain someone near the DVD player, he winces. That...sure is a gaze. He knows he doesn't like it. Dimitri knows how to use his presence where it counts.]
Ah, you're giving me that look, brother...I guess you still haven't forgiven me for earlier.
[ Dimitri is often gentle, but he's also the leader of his school house and prince of an entire nation, so. He has had years to practice Scathing Disappointment. Even when he's just looking up from a DVD player that he's on the verge of destroying, probably. ]
...I believe Shinobu meted out the appropriate punishment already. [ Can anything he say really hurt worse than that? ]
[ Shinobu, hero to us all. Still, Dimitri doesn't seem like he's going to continue where she left off, instead giving him one last, firm look before turning his gaze to his current foe, the DVD player. ]
Sort of... Frankly, I don't even know where to begin to ask for help with this.
[Does he have a DVD on him? If so, he'll reach over to take it from him, before squatting down and reaching to press the button to open the DVD player, before slipping the disc inside.]
These round items are called DVDs. They have movies on them...they're sort of like plays. [He presses the DVD holder and it slides in with a whir.] There. Now we need to find the remote.
[ He's watching with RAPT ATTENTION as the machine consumes the disc. Unfortunately, he doesn't know what a remote is, so he just blindly hands him some stuff that's on the table.
He gets to the remote after a game controller and the steel box set of T*arantino films. ]
[Hey, Dimitri. Here's Anaido, sitting by the bonfire, throwing a tennis ball up and down as he stares at the flames - when he sees movement, though, he catches it, smiling lightly over at his so-called "brother".]
So I guess we couldn't escape a murderous fate even here, huh...
[ Congrats on surviving Week 0, Anaido. Dimitri is plainly agitated, stiff-shouldered and stiff-jawed as he trudges back to the cabin area. He only relaxes enough to let out a quiet huff, frowning. ]
So it would seem. I assume you've taken a look at the 'rulebook' already? [ it's practically mocking them. ]
[ He looks like he's struggling with the invitation for a second, like he has to go pace uselessly somewhere instead or he'll combust, but he eventually does sit down beside him. Sure. He'll try. ]
...I so wanted to believe it. [ Anaido's correct, but. ] Maybe I wanted to let myself be fooled.
[ He nods. Even if part of him knew this was a possibility, or maybe even a likelihood—who wants to say as much?
The stiff set of his shoulders relaxes a little, more defeated than before. ]
Another ritual... [ he's just going to watch Anaido's tennis ball for a second before blinking back to reality ] I'm grateful that you're all right this time. Though that feels callous to say when someone else still died.
[Dimitri can find Anaido walking back from the lake. His head and face have been cleaned with blood, but now there's something new - a large indent of a scar splitting down his forehead, moving into his right eyebrow. The strange thing is, it looks incredibly old.]
[He waves at the other man, his smile fond.]
Brother. How are you? I heard you, Shinobu, and Giyuu had some adventures, huh?
[ hard to say if the weather's going to be winter or summer tomorrow, so dimitri's around, collecting some extra clothes in case of either tomorrow, when he spots a familiar face. he sounds a little tired (who isn't tired by sunday?), but considering who it is, he still pulls together a little smile in greeting. ]
[But even then, even through the exhaustion of having to sprint back to report results, he stops and perks up when he recognizes the young man training in the woods.]
Oh. Dimitri. [Actually using his name for once, as he steps forward to lean against a tree. The circles under his eyes seem more prominent.] I'm guessing you're trying to keep your mind off of things, huh.

Ah, she did, she did, she did... [He lifts up his shoulders, sheepish, before letting them fall with a low huff.] Ah, do you need...help with that?
[The DVD player, he means.]

[And he laughs at the question. A short, barking laugh.]
Of course. They really shouldn't have tried to fool us into thinking this place was anything that it was not.

[There's no judgement in his words. Just stating it like a fact.]
Anyways...I'm sad, too. It means we have to deal with all of this over again.
[And here, he finally wanted to stick around for the chance to see a certain someone, again.]

Brother. How are you? I heard you, Shinobu, and Giyuu had some adventures, huh?

Mm. We found a strange cabin in the woods...
[ He just rolls a shoulder, tapping it. ]
I only have a few bruises here to contend with, though. It seems your experience was much more harrowing.
[ What with all the death and all. He sounds a little concerned. ]

Doing a little winter scavenging?

[He looks like he's trying to figure out how to wrap a little piece of fabric around Louis.]
Crabs aren't made for winter weather...
no subject
They do seem like creatures of the summer.
[ dimitri rummages a bit through the clothes racks, looking for something. ]
It's good of you to look after him still. [ how many of them would've just. eaten louis by now. ]

[He glances over to Dimitri. and NO PLEASE LEAVE LOUIS ALONE. RAVE CRABS TASTE BAD]
If anything happened to him, well, she'd probably have my head.

anyway it seems like anaido made pretty good friends with the graveyard—first this blossomed romance with wen ning, and now marie's friend. ]
Ah... [ he does his best not to make a face. did he see how marie died. ] Well, do take good care of him so we keep decapitations to a minimum.
[ also, he instinctively meets his eye, shooting off a relatively peaceful(?) memory (c rank). ]
no subject
[What...was that?]
[Dimitri? A wild beast? He stares at him when the memory disappears, his brow furrowing.]
That's... [Why did...Dimitri not deny it?] Why would that boy say that about you? In such a way...?

B— [ ... ] Anaido.
[ he looks exhausted when he stops. ]
I guess you could say that. Is that why you're here so late?
no subject
[A flicker of sadness, perhaps, in his eyes.]
Yeah. My mind is running a mile a minute. It needs to take a break. So...I'm here.
no subject
Well... I am here to listen, if you'd like to relieve yourself of your thoughts.
[ if that would make it any easier to carry them. ]
no subject
[He walks up closer, eyeing the lance in the other's hands, before he heaves a sigh and puts his hands deep in his pockets.]
...I'm really not cut out to be a brilliant detective.
