ASSASSINATED
What a strange world.
You're standing on a round platform, rising up like an elevator. There are multiple people standing around you, confused, and when the platform finally stops, their eyes also glance around at the wall of water that surrounds them. The sun shines directly overhead, like a hot beam. There is nothing but the sun, the wall of water rising up so high that you assume it's a strange sort of round waterfall that cascades around the platform, and the people around you.
A shot rings out, and grazes your cheek. It stings a little.
You turn towards where the shot came from, and there's a girl behind you laying on the platform, already dead. A puddle of blood blossoms from underneath her, staining her pure white dress. Her death must have been quick. Her head is turned to the side, glassy green eyes staring somewhere.
More shots ring out, sharp noises that pierce the air. The people start screaming around you as more bodies fall onto the platform. They're practical fish in a barrel. You're not focused on that. You step forward towards the first victim. Like a magnet, you feel pulled to the girl, like she's the only thing that matters in this strange world.
Your own thoughts in your head ring out, somehow clearly heard over the chaotic din of madness and murder happening around you.
"This is Kaeru-kun."
"And I am Anaido. I don't know my full name. But I'm the brilliant detective."
